Abstract:
It is not difficult at all to talk about literary creations as quests, initiations or manifestos since the
writers’ literary geniuses fulfil this inner need of using art as a tool of expressing attitudes towards or against
the outside world that surrounds them. There is a myriad of examples in point throughout the literature of all
times and cultures, but I believe that the modern one presents a more grounded approach in an attempt to
exemplify the power and impact of such a literary creation on generations of young people worldwide. And what
better example could I think of if not J. D. Salinger’s novel “The Catcher in the Rye”? This article tries to
outline the most important themes and patterns in the novel and connect them to other relevant and similar ones.
